A visit to Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter at Walt Disney World is a uniquely delightful experience. From the Resort’s New Orleans-inspired architecture – complete with ornate ironwork railing and charming courtyards to the iconic sounds and sweet smells of the Big Easy, you’ll instantly feel transported to the most enchanting corner of the Vieux Carré!

Newly Refurbished Guest Rooms
The fresh look of the refurbished rooms combines warm Southern charm with thoughtful, efficient design.

As soon as you walk-in, the updated color palette and elegant styling immediately evoke the spirit of New Orleans. New portraits now feature favorite characters from The Princess and the Frog, including Princess Tiana, Prince Naveen, Louie, and Charlotte La Bouff. Look closely and you might spot clever nods to the story—like Tiana’s tiara, musical instruments, and Mardi Gras touches—woven into the room’s design. Personally, we really appreciate the added open storage areas to supplement the dressers. Often times there are items that simply don’t fit the drawers.

Even the bathrooms have been upgraded to offer guests more comfort and convenience. Double sinks and ample storage make the space functional for families and couples alike. Even when it’s just the 2 of us traveling, we always find double sinks a big plus!

When you choose to stay at a Disney Resort, you expect a touch of magic—and this refurbishment delivers! The refurbished rooms now feel distinctly Disney while embracing the vibrant culture of the Big Easy.
Refurbished Exterior Enhancements
The refresh wasn’t limited to just the rooms. Many of the outdoor areas have been freshened up! The Doubloon Lagoon pool area and Mardi Grogs pool bar now sport a brighter, airy, more polished look, all while still keeping that relaxed, fun atmosphere.

Sight, Sounds, and Tastes of New Orleans
Of course, no stay at the French Quarters is complete without indulging in some of its signature experiences. Here you can take a stroll along the scenic Sassagoula River, or better yet—follow your nose to Scat Cat’s Club-Café for a warm Mickey-shaped beignet and a classic Café au Lait.

Looking for a little night music? Head to the Scat Cat’s Club Lounge where you can catch some swingin’ jazz while sipping on Southern-inspired cocktails. The sweet sounds of Live jazz are featured Friday through Sunday nights.
More Unique Experiences
Before we close, there are two unique Port Orleans – Riverside experiences you may want to consider. One is to take a Horse-drawn Carriage ride along the beautiful banks of the Sassagoula River. Advance reservations can be made online or through the my Disney experience app. Some same-day or walk-in reservations may be available.

The other can’t-miss experience is catching the wildly entertaining Yehaa Bob Jackson at the River Roost Lounge! Performing most Wednesday through Saturday evenings, Yehaa Bob brings high-energy music, wacky humor, and a whole lot of audience interaction. When we first went to his show, we had no idea just how much fun we were about to experience! His family-friendly show will have you clapping, singing, and maybe even joining him on stage! In fact, at one point he had Tom running around the room with his hands holding imaginary binoculars up to his face, all while everyone in the lounge was singing! Hilariously fun!!! Yehaa Bob is hard to describe but just know it’s worth the time to get out there. Because it’s a well-known fave among both kids and adults—so be sure to arrive to his sets early, as seats fill up fast!

So if you’re planning your next Disney vacation and want a resort that offers charm, comfort, and a little bit of New Orleans magic, Port Orleans French Quarter might just be the perfect pick. Don’t forget to save room for a beignet (or three)! Have you stayed at Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter or do you have an upcoming trip planned? We’d love to hear about it.
